Objective:
Students will create an artistic tetraflexagon.
Materials Necessary:
Outline of Activities:
| 1. Cut 3 sides of a 2 x 4 window from the center leaving the left side attached and uncut. | |
| 2. Push the 2 x 4 section through the piece of paper away from you, folding it towards the left creasing the left edge that was left uncut. A 2 x 2 tab should extend left of the grid paper from the backside. |

| 3. Fold the 2 x 2 tab from the back over the top towards the
front, creasing the edge. You should have a 6 x 8 grid with a 2 x 4 open window. |

| 4. Fold the right two columns towards the back, creasing on line 1. The grid is now 6 x 6 with a 2 x 2 open window. |
|
| 5. Fold the right two columns again towards the back, creasing on line 2. The grid is now 4 x 6 with no open window. |
|
| 6. Carefully tape the folded over tab from step 3 to the piece that closed the open window from step 5. |
|
|
7. Make a design on each side of the tetraflexagon. Be creative and artistic when making your designs using colored pencils or crayons.

The students will be asked to share their tetraflexagons with the class revealing 4 designs.
Extensions Above and Beyond:
Ask the instructor for directions on making hexaflexagon. Create an artistic
working hexaflexagon.
